The MaGIC (Malaysian Global Innovation and Innovation and Creativity Centre) Academy Symposium, the annual conference that brings the local entrepreneurship community together, returned for a fourth year with the theme of disruptive entrepreneurship.
The four-day event called the Magic Academy Symposium 2017 (MA2017) starting today, was organised as a platform for entrepreneurs to share knowledge and network with notable local and international speakers.
The speakers participating this year include Tom Kelley, from design consulting firm IDEO, Carousel co-founder Lucas Ngoo, Sriram Krishnan from Tinder and Adam Burmister from Pinterest and Zebra Intelligence founder Tiffany Zhong.
This year’s event focuses on four key areas – troubleshooting mistakes and failures, growth and opportunities, future trends and talent and career.
“The digital economy offers new opportunities for entrepreneurs to innovate, enhance social efficiency and create more impact.
This is disruptive entrepreneurship at work – a timely theme for our signature symposium,” said MaGIC CEO Ashran Datuk Ghazi.
“With MA2017, we intend to help nurture Malaysia’s thriving ecosystem further by driving entrepreneurship development, building creativity and innovation capabilities.”
The final day of the event on Oct 7 will coincide with a startup career fair which MaGIC claims to be the largest of its kind in Southeast Asia, with over 300 job vacancies up for grabs.
Over 100 startups will be taking part at the fair including the likes of Zalora Malaysia, Uber Eats, Kaodim, Shopee, Honestbee and iPay88.
